Following The Ninth: In The Footsteps of Beethoven’s Final Symphony has been a dream of SAF friend and client, Kerry Candaele, for a very long time. After many years of production and over a year of post-production and finishing, that dream has now come true.
Filmed on 5 continents and in 12 countries, this unique documentary explores the relationship between one triumphant piece of music and the global narrative of our shared human experience. Angelenos will have the first chance to see the film this Friday at the Laemmle Music Hall 3 in Beverly Hills.
Over the past several years, we’ve provided Kerry with camera and lighting gear for Following The Ninth, as well as given him many hours of technical support and advice. CEO of Stray Angel Films, Suren M. Seron, even served as an associate producer on the film.
So far, the documentary has been extremely well received. The Village Voice called Following The Ninth “a majestic sonic travelogue”. The New York Times also reviewed the film stating “all the film’s segments are smartly assembled and gracefully paced. Oh, and the score’s pretty good too.” Bill Moyers also previewed Following The Ninth on his show Moyers & Company and recently remarked to Kerry after the show, “Your film is beautiful and powerful and I wish that we could have shown the entirety of it”.
We’re honored to have been apart of the film and overwhelmed with joy for Kerry Candaele’s success.
