YouTube Launches Support For 8K Video

YouTube is ready for the future even if your setup isn’t. This year, the company added support for 8K video, though the format will likely be out of reach to most users for years to come. Even so, the very first 8K video, Ghost Towns, has appeared on the site and is available for your viewing pleasure.

Ghost Towns was shot on the 6K RED DRAGON, and the filmmakers were able to achieve an 8K resolution endproduct. Some clips were stitched together in After Effects, while other clips were simply upscaled from 6K to accomplish that 8K goal.

If you’re interested in seeing the future for yourself, you can try to watch the film below, but beware, your computer might not cooperate!
